With the weather getting warmer, many people will want to change their curtains and

install some roller shades so they can keep the heat and noise out of their rooms. Spring is a good time to put away your curtains and have a change of scenery. Roller shades can really smarten up your windows because of its vertical fit. Other than that it is absolutely ideal for having some light in the room so you can read or watch television without the sun blocking your view.

The price of the shades does vary depending on the thickness of the material and whether you want them customized for your windows.

The price of roller shades will very enormously depending on the size of the windows, thickness of the fabric and the construction material. There are six types of shades worth looking at; first and foremost is the solar screen variety, which is very expensive. The benefit of using this is that they are energy efficient and will do the job of keeping the heat and light out when it gets too hot. Be prepared for the heaviness of the shades as they are coated with a layer of vinyl. Due to the coating they can be rather stiff.

Secondly, there are the privacy screens. Very similar to the solar screens, they are much lighter as they are made of thick fabric without the vinyl coating. But the thickness of the fabric will make them long-lasting.

The fabrics are much softer and there is a huge variety of colors, patterns, images and sizes available.

Thirdly, there is the blackout range, guaranteed to give 100% complete black out during the day if you are a night worker and really need your sleep. Once again modern technology has developed this line very successfully to give you the double sided black out shade.

Second, there are the privacy screen shades. Although, a lot lighter than the solar screen, they do the job as proficiently as any of the other screens.

They do not have the strength of the vinyl coating, but you can mix and match them with draperies and net curtains. They are lot softer and can be manufactured in very pretty and fetching designs to create the perfect mood for your room.

Thirdly, you can get blackout window shades. Manufactured largely from vinyl, they can give the user one hundred per cent blackout from all the sunlight shining in from the windows of the property. The blackout screens are obtainable in many types and can use to make any home look appealing and nice.

Fourthly, we have the wooden slat screen roller shades. They are very nice being made from wood, but are difficult to maintain. Wood needs a lot of care because it can gather dust very quickly. If you pick a cheap brand the often the slats do not sit very well and you will end up having a lopsided shade on your window.

Fifthly we have paper screen that is made from very thin paper material. Obviously if you want to know how much protection a shade can offer then buying a few of these is a good idea and trying them out till you can get more expensive ones.

They can offer a lot of protection against insects, flies, dirt, pollution, and noise. Plus, they will keep any area cool by letting the air circulate freely in any given area.
