Selling Silver As An Investment
With any investment there are really only three factors to consider in making a profit and selling silver is no exception
. First there is the buying of the investment, or in this case the silver, and then there is the investment growth stage, and then finally the selling silver for a profit. Remembering these three parts and realizing that silver is an investment just like stocks or bonds will help you in being patient and allowing for the most profit.
When it comes to the selling of silver, there are many different ways to go about it. The first, and probably the most sure fire way of selling silver is to go to a local coin shop. There, the silver dealer will offer you a price that will be slightly below the spot price as they call it, this way he can mark up the silver and make a profit. Even though they will offer below spot price, going to a coin shop will almost always guarantee that they will at least offer you something even though it may be a little lower than you could get somewhere else. With this being the case, a local coin or silver shop is the best bet if you need to get rid of the silver investment quickly and turn it into cash.
Another great way to sell silver is to post an ad in a free directory such as Craigslist. You will have some time involved in setting up the ad as it is always recommended to take and post some pictures as most buyers want to see pictures. But once the ad is set up you can usually get close to what you are asking as long as it is not outrageous but close to market value and the turnaround time to sell silver can be fairly quick. Just be safe when posting an ad for silver. For example, do not tell someone you have 500 ounces of silver and you will meet them in a back alley somewhere, just use common sense and you won't have any problems.
One of the most popular ways of selling silver can be to look for silver dealers online, the companies that actually sell silver will normally buy it right back from you. You may have to pay some shipping charges but typically they will give you spot on prices if not slightly higher than for most of your silver. This can be one of the most profitable ways to unload some of your silver investments. Silver bars for example, would be a good candidate for this type of service. Really, any type of silver in the form of bars or coins is easily sold for what it's worth to most any online silver dealer or seller.
Some silver coins that are specialty items may be best advertised and sold to niche collectors. For example, the American eagle silver coin may be sold for more to someone who specializes in collecting those exact types of coins. So instead of going to a general silver dealer, you can try to seek out specific buyers that are looking for those particular types of silver coins. Places to find collectors looking for certain coins can be at live auctions, or at any of the online auction sites, coin shows, and places of that nature.
