Usually, for a company that is shipping goods with a logistics services provider, terminals are all but invisible. They function silently in the background of the shipping industry, simply providing points for redistribution and organization so that your goods can get where they need to go quickly and efficiently. However, this sometimes isn't the case, and you might have one of several reasons for wanting to pickup cargo directly from a terminal, or if you may want to store something at a terminal and then ship it out. If so, knowing how to complete these processes is going to be essential.

Technology has made it much easier for the customers of logistics and shipping companies to make these types of special requests. First of all, many of these companies now have a system online where you can view all of your orders with the company, including where they are, and what their status is. From there, you can also make many requests on your files, such as requesting that a delivery be sent out at any time. Every courier might have a different interface for this, but many also might include a simple online option that will allow you to indicate that you wish a shipment to be held at a terminal for pickup. This is by far the easiest way to request shipping options direct with a terminal.

If a company hasn't yet implemented an online order system that allows for these types of requests, all you should ever have to do is call the courier or shipper directly and ask them to send or hold the package in question for you. All of these companies have one thing as their top priority, and that is the pleasing of their customers, so this shouldn't ever be a problem. Remember though, that these types of terminal options are only going to be available to account holders with the company. Someone who doesn't have an account is only going to receive the service they paid for in advance of the shipping and isn't likely to be allowed to make any on the fly requests to alter the shipping plans they already put in place.
