There is a lot to do when selecting a place to live for yourself and/or your family member. The questions asked above are very important. If you are the individual who is seeking housing you must acquire a place that you like, not what is convenient for family members. As a family member seeking a place for our senior, we must put their needs first and try to make sure that everything that they will need will be available to them.
For instance, the complex has a pool and golf course. If you don't swim or play golf, how important are these amenities if you aren't interested? If there is a track for running, what do you care if you walk with the support of a walker?
The most important decision for you is to make sure that what you need/want is available for you. How close will you be to a hospital or public transportation? Are there grocery stores nearby? These things are important to consider when deciding where you want to live. Some times we are persuaded to choose what we don't really want because it is more convenient for someone else. But you must consider that this will be your home and it must be a place that you will comfortable and safe. Choosing the place that fits your needs is the most important factor, not pleasing family members who may enjoy the amenities more than you.
In conclusion, it's really all about what you want and need, not what your family members may want you to do.
