Seo Best Practice: Blogging
When writing blogs, especially for work or SEO purposes it can be quite a challenge
finding interesting content that will captivate your audience and keep them interested enough to come back again and again. Once you have found something worth shouting about it is important to write about it in a user friendly way which will stimulate interest and curiosity.
It is important to mention though, that when writing an article, write it for the end users predominately rather than for the search engines as if your article is appealing enough word will spread around and your blog will start becoming more popular. It is worth mentioning though that in order to maximise the effectiveness of your blog you should consider which keywords you wish to target and use them rigorously yet effectively within your content.
When you have selected your keywords with the aim of creating back links to your website - either to drive traffic through directly from your blog or to increase your websites own page rank, it is important to place them as discreetly within your text as possible.
Once you have finished your post and have content that runs fluidly and is keyword enriched then it is time to hyper link those keywords back to your websites sub domain categories. For example imagine you are a tour operator and you want to rate higher in the SERP's for the term 'package holidays in Crete', then within the text of your blog there should be relevant keywords that are hyperlinked and pointing back to the 'package holidays in Crete' sub domain category of your website.
Alongside hyperlinking, placing keywords in the titles and main content of your blog posts will also aid your SEO efforts as search engine spiders will crawl your blog and see relevant keywords within the content, which in turn will lead to your page being displayed in the SERP's once an end user enters a relevant query matching the keywords on your page.
As well as hyperlinking keywords back to your main website it is also useful to hyperlink back to other related blogs that relate to the same industry as yours. This will hopefully gain you some backlinks from those blogs to your own blog and will also provide your readers with other useful information that they may be searching for.
Lastly and just as importantly don't forget to register your blog to blog directories that will hopefully provide you with an increase in traffic and promote your blog that little bit more.
