Motion like a rotating fan or of a generator is generated by these belts. The performance of the vehicle is improved. The best part about the serpentine belts is that it can be fitted to the perfect tension and force without taking unnecessary care about the stretching duration. The stretching could have decreased the effectiveness of the belt or could have made it complicated for the mechanic to handle. But as the tension and other moments of forces can be suitably adjusted according to the engine and battery quality of the vehicle, there will be an increase in the performance of the vehicle . Moreover, the life span of the belt will be longer compared to a multiple belt system. Most of us like doing the work on their own. Many individuals, either simply because for the love of it or just because they are not economically well, like to change these belts of their vehicles on their own instead of visiting the nearby auto mechanic or service station and incur some expenses. These serpentine belts are easily replaceable manually and hence is more useful for such people. The simple reason is that the different engine component of belts need not be removed. There is only a single belt that needs to be removed and replaced. But, as another added advantage, these serpentine belts are of an excellent durability and do not break often. For vehicle drivers, the replacement of these belts is not a big issue. Once in a blue moon only, they need to accomplish this task if they take proper and due care of their vehicle and its mechanical parts. But, like everything, these serpentine belts also have some negative property about them. When these belts do break up, the vehicle does not have any power provided to the engine parts that are driven by the belt. The driver can have some problem. But these belts often wear away slowly and thus indicating about its replacement. This indication is usually a strikingly great and immense noise or a humming sound. Therefore, the vehicle owner could easily realize the need for the belt to be changed.
