Server Racks: Not A Want But A Need For Efficient Working Of Servers

. In vague terms, server rack could be explained as a computer device used as a server which is outlined in a frame called rack. These racks are designed in such a manner that it may hold hardware unit on the mounted slots with the help of screws.

3. Server rooms should have raised floors but it should be kept in mind that only power cables should be used on the raised floor and not network cables.

4. There should be a provision for proper ventilation. Air circulation is actually needed in server rooms. Direct cooling systems should be installed in equipment rack so that excessive of heat building could be minimized.

5. It is important to arrange all the cables in an orderly manner.

Each cable should be labelled on both ends. It would help the user to unplug a switch and to plug it back on the server end.

The cables should be color coded. Always try to reduce the cable muddle by using patch panel. Use one color for KVM cables and another for network.

Power cables should be kept as far as possible from the ethernet cables as it would cause Electro Magnetic Interference. Power ones should run on one side and the network ones on the other.
