Server Recap for 2010
Computer servers are ever-changing, and with that comes increased sales, updated software and more efficient hardware. Two thousand and ten was a big year for server sales and updates. Servers are becoming more user friendly for the IT staff in data centers around the world. Servers are also becoming more eco friendly for the world that they are placed within. From new disposal options to compact versions of the servers we already made room for, servers are keeping with the times in each coming year.
IBM has always been a big winner in the server world when it comes to revenue standards, but HP definitely took the number one spot in the x86 market. As the x86 market took up over half of the overall market, this made for great strides on the books of Hewlett-Packard.
In two thousand and ten, sales were extremely good for most all server vendors, as well as retail and online sales companies. Sales for servers alone was just over forty-eight billion dollars nationwide.
Fifteen of those forty-eight billion dollars were obtained in the forth quarter. This is an approximate eleven percent increase from the prior year. One could argue that even though the economic status wasn't at it's peak, server upgrades and purchases are still important dollars to companies around the world.
When visiting the stats on servers that were shipped worldwide, there was an overall fifteen percent increase. This made for shipping of over seven and half million units, globally.
IBM alone made over five and a half billion dollars in revenue in the forth quarter of two thousand and ten. Overall revenue for the year was over fifteen billion dollars. This made IBM and Hewlett-Packard, top sales for two thousand and then, all-around.
Dell was not to be forgotten, as they slipped into the top five, with revenue stats of a smidge over seven billion dollars. With an increase of over thirty-four percent, Dell captured over twelve percent of the overall market last year.
Fujitsu broke about even in two thousand and ten, with revenues over two billion dollars. This equated to Fujitsu taking approximately five percent of the two thousand and ten market.
Servers are seemingly due to evolve even more this year, with focuses on overall efficiency and eco-friendly adjustments. With Energy Star now rating the efficiency of servers, most vendors are jumping on board with the green technology wave. What will two thousand and eleven bring us, as far as servers? We shall have to wait and see.2010 server recap, server overview, ibm server, hp servers, dell desktops, dell servers
