Setting Goals: Follow This 1 Step Each Month And Achieve Your Goals

Writing and staying focused on your goals is absolutely critical to your success

.

It's important to continually look at the goals you set. If you don't achieve everything you planned to achieve in the previous month, that's OK. Write it down again ... the goal is still important, you may just have had your timing out.

Make yourself accountable to someone else, by sending them your updated goals each month. This could be your partner or a close friend. I find the act of 'putting my goals out there' makes me more accountable. People ask me about them and I don't want to say, ahhhh I haven't done that yet.

Get into the habit of updating your goals every month. Look back at previous goals you wrote and reflect on what you have achieved. I have achieved about 70% of what I wrote in 2009. To me, this is awesome. I have so much I want to achieve in this life, and each goal I set and achieve keeps me moving forward.

To me, it doesn't matter if I don't achieve everything, as long as I keep moving forward. Although, I have found that as I achieve goals, I set myself higher goals. Things that I once saw as a dream, or perhaps something I would do in five years time, I'm planning on achieving by next year.

So, now's the time to dig up your dreams. What are you going to do to take a step closer to being everything you want to be?

I recommend the habit of updating your goals as a minimum, every month. Write your goals down and review and update them every month.

I review and update my goals every month. I also communicate them to my clients every month via my weekly newsletter program. By communicating my goals, I am making myself accountable to myself for achieving them. I highly encourage my clients and those receiving my weekly newsletters to monitor and update their goals with me on a monthly basis. The aim of the email is to keep us all focused on our goals, so together we all achieve. I remind them of this in the first week of each month.

Following are some examples of goals I wrote for myself in February 2009.

Health goal: Run minimum of 6 kilometres five days per week.

Personal development goal: Read a minimum of one personal development book per month.

Life purpose goal: Continue writing my first book: draft writing to be complete by end February, 2009.

Family goal: Plan four holidays for 2009. Completed: Byron 40th booked, Vanuatu dive holiday booked

Family goal: Minimum of two weekend dives.

Business goal: Develop lead generation and conversion system to provide Amina's alliances with up to 20 clients each.

Business goal: Two new corporate client appointments per week.

Your action is to find your own strategy for writing, reviewing and updating your goals on a regular basis. Some people say you should do this on a daily basis; others weekly or monthly. I do mine monthly. It works for me. It keeps me moving forward.

Whatever strategy you use to write, update and review your goals on a regular basis, DO IT NOW!
