Throwing a party is a tradition and it's a wonderful thing to do for your son or daughter, to let them know how proud you are of them. It's also a way for them to party off all the stress that was leading up to the big day! When it comes to getting ready for a graduation party, there's a lot to take into consideration.

First you need to think about where you are going to have the party. It really depends on how big you plan on it being. If you are just inviting close family and friends of the graduate, then a house party may be a great way to save some money on venue. If you really want to go all out though and throw a party big enough to invite the whole graduating class, you are going to want to look into dance halls or bigger venues to hold that many people.

After you choose the place, consider what you'll do about food. You'll need to cater either way, because there will be so much going on it'll be tough to cook unless you want to be prepping hours earlier. Catering can go a few different ways; you can choose to order food to carry in yourself, you can have food delivered but have the layout be self-serve, or you can have a full staff. Each option really depends on your budget as well as needs. With a large amount of people, it may be easiest to have full service catering where people stay seated and are served. A medium sized party may benefit just fine from self-service and small intimate parties will probably be OK with just a few dishes brought in.

Sending out festive invitations to your family members and son or daughter's friends is the easiest way to make sure everyone is notified. There are a lot of fun choices for graduation, with special invitations and note paper for the occasion. It'll be easy to find something that works for you, whether funny and cute or more sophisticated.
