Several Signs for Car Maintenance
Car maintenance is a crucial issue
Car maintenance is a crucial issue. However, most of the car owners know that their cars need maintenance only when their cars go wrong, such as they shake, they will not start, and they make noises. It makes the owners waste money for extra fuel before the symptom is obvious. Meanwhile, some others only follow the scheduled maintenance which is recommended. It makes them waste money for replacing the parts which are still able to work for driving for some thousand miles.
Taking an effective and efficient action is highly recommended for the car owners. In this case, you have to recognize when your car needs maintenance. Here are some simple steps you can do for performing the right maintenance for your car.
The first thing is to know the gas mileage. It is very important for your car since it is just like blood pressure to human. Thus, it can be the first indication that your car requires maintenance. Check the mileage at the regular intervals like once in two weeks or once a month. If you note the steady decrease in your gas mileage for two or three successive months, you will need basic tune up. In addition, if you note the drastic decrease, you should check the leak on the fuel system.
The next thing is to test the acceleration. You can do it while driving to work. It will be better to do it while on a highway with 55 miles per hour speed limit. You can start by driving at the steady speed such as 10 mph slower than your end speed. If you want to quit accelerating at 55 mph, you should drive at 45 mph steadily for some seconds. After pushing the accelerator steadily, start counting until you reach for the end speed. Every time you do the test, you should have the same count. If not, there may be a problem on the acceleration process and need tune-up.
The third thing to do is to test the deceleration. You can do it for once in a month. You can start by establishing the steady speed at around 15 or 20 mph. then, stop suddenly. Just try to stop quicker than your normal stop without squealing the skid or tires. If you note your engine make any unusual noise or quits rough, you will need tune-up.
The next thing is to test the vibration. You can start it by placing a glass of water on the flat surface of your engine. Use the clear plastic glass and fill it in half full. Do this test when the engine is in the normal operating temperature. Then, note the shaking of the water. Rev your engine up and down swiftly for about two or three times. See if the water can settle back to the original level. You can do this test for once in a month. If you note ay drastic changes from one test to another, you will need tune-up.
