You can get rid of bacteria and viruses by steaming your floors with a good steam mop. There is nothing quite as effective as a steam mop for maintaining sterility on a high-trafficked surface like a bathroom or kitchen floor. There is no better way to keep your place clean than with a steam mop.

If you have small children, you will want to keep their clothes and playthings clean and germ-free, which may be easier said than done. This is a chief culprit in disease transmission. Use some warm bleach water to make the germs melt away.

Door knobs and telephone handles are two other things you will want to be careful to investigate. And you want to keep your baby's bottles and rubber nipples clean and sterile as well.

So, mom? Dad? You have your work cut out for you. But don't over do it. Some germs are actually essential to the healthy development of a child in a home and in the world.

You actually want your infant or toddler to pick up some germs from around him or herself. It's essential to the development of a healthy immune system as well.
