Seville's Fair Stance On Life

This is a city according to a legend that was founded by Hercules

. Seville was called Hispalis whilst ruled by the Romans and Isbilya with the Moors. Seville is located in the south of Spain. There are just over 700,000 who inhabit the city, which is nearly half of the population of the whole province; also Seville is Spains fourth largest city. It lies on the plain of the river Guadalquivir that crosses the city from north to south, here you find fabulous Spanish Villas. The river can be navigated from Seville all the way to its outlet near Sanlcar de Barrameda, on the Atlantic coast. In the past Seville played an important role in business and trade between Spain and the Americas and remains active today as one of the most active ports of the Iberian Peninsula.

Two weeks after Easter Sunday is one of the key times to go to the city as everyone hits the streets for a week long party for the Feria de Abril. This is a time when you will see round the clock activities such as bullfighting, flamenco and fiestas. Seville is considered the centre for Flamenco music and culture, which is also known as Sevilana because many songs and composers are from the city. During this time is also a temporary tent city on the far side of the Rio Guadalquivir called the Real de Feria. The land is roughly about a mile long and 700 yards wide.

The festivities begin on Monday at Midnight and runs for six days thus ending on the following Sunday. Each day the fiesta begins with the parade of carriages and riders, at midday, carrying Seville's leading citizens which make their way to the bullring, La Real Maestranza, where the bullfighters and breeders meet.

The tents are called Casetas, they are set up by families, businesses and organisations. They are brightly striped canvas and have thousands of paper lanterns as decoration. It is said more than a thousand Castas are set up every year. Although most of the Casetas are private and are only open to members or if they were invited as guests, so it is best to know someone from the city. But there are at least seven that are open to the public and those display things from each of the six districts of the city, these are called the caseta municipal. In the tents drink flows and tapas are served after midday until the next morning. You could that the casetas are like outdoor places as each is equipped with a bar kitchen and sound system or live entertainment that plays Sevillanas

There is also an amusement park called Calle de Infierno it covers 1.2 square metres, it also is called Hell's Street in English. This is where all the rides, shows, circus events and other night time entertainment take place. It is designed for all ages with a kiddies area full of mini rides and other attractions that are smaller and suitable for the smaller fairgoers. For the older travellers, there are more attractions that are more suitable; so people of all ages can be a part of the festivities.
