Shamwari Game Reserve & Jesse Desjardins create the first iPhone 4's Wildlife Documentary

International digital strategist Jesse Desjardins visited Shamwari Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape, South Africa, last week and filmed the world's first Wildlife Documentary shot entirely on his iPhone 4. Nature films allow us, as viewers, to witness marvels of nature that we might not ordinarily see or even know of. But achieving this is no simple task even with some of the most advanced equipment and certainly seemed quite unattainable on a mobile phone, until now.

Desjardins spent 72 hours trying his luck with Africa's elusive big 5 on Shamwari Game Reserve guided by one of their experienced rangers. Jesse soon realized that the iPhone did not have the luxury of an optical zoom and therefore the footage that you are invited to view, created in one day, using nothing more than his iPhone, is what some would recognize as a giant leap in technological evolution. Watch this documentary as Jesse gets up close and personal with the Wildlife at Shamwari.

The quality of the high definition video is incredible for such a small device and one quite easily forgets that this is filmed on nothing more than an iPhone! The fact that you can now carry both the shooting hardware and the editing software in your pocket is remarkable and would have seemed unbelievable even a few years back.
