Shanghai Peach Blossom Festival The Rosy Hued Fiesta Of Shanghai

From the days the first colourful firework was set off

, China is well known for myriad festivals all throughout the year celebrated with much enthusiasm. Sometimes it has become almost difficult to shed the stereotypical image of the dancing lions, red banners and the noise and clamour at the mention of the word China thanks to the abundance of the lively festivals in the Chinese traditions. In 1991, a new fte was added to this long list when the Shanghai Peach Blossom Festival was held for the first time in the Nanhui suburb of the populous city of Shanghai.

The Peach tree, the fruit and its blossoms was always held in high regard in the Chinese culture and the fruit was considered a divine delicacy for most, part loved even by the Jade Emperor himself; The Taoist lord of heaven. The Peach blossom with its pleasant rosy hue is considered by Chinese as an auspicious symbol with the power to ward off evil. If you are lucky to see the pink sea of Peach blossoms in Nanhui as the Peach festival comes into its full swing, you will almost believe this for a fact. To take part in this unique festival, the ideal time of course is the time when peach trees starts to flower, which is late March to early April.

The Shanghai Peach Blossom Festival; although a fledgling event when compared to other Chinese festivals, draws in thousands of enthusiastic participants from all over the place each year as it becomes popular at home and overseas. Extravagant events and shows that characterize the loving regard of the Peach and the colourful traditions of the rural Chinese life is the mainstay of the festival, with many other interesting events and competitions; like the amusing pig races, bringing up the rear. You can also visit the Peach Blossom Village located in the same area and enjoy local delicacies, traditional handicrafts and picturesque scenery among the blossoming Peach trees and traditional Chinese rural architecture as the festival comes to a close after a week or so long period of revelry.

At Shanghai, a top quality Shanghai Hotel isnt hard to find while the fun lasts. Shanghai Hotel Deals are worthwhile especially at a good place like the Millennium Hongqiao Hotel Shanghai. You will not find it easy to leave Shanghai behind after you had a good sojourn in the city and taken part in that unforgettable rosy hued celebration.
