To take part in this unique festival, the ideal time of course is the time when peach trees starts to flower, which is late March to early April.

The Shanghai Peach Blossom Festival; although a fledgling event when compared to other Chinese festivals, draws in thousands of enthusiastic participants from all over the place each year as it becomes popular at home and overseas. Extravagant events and shows that characterize the loving regard of the Peach and the colourful traditions of the rural Chinese life is the mainstay of the festival, with many other interesting events and competitions; like the amusing pig races, bringing up the rear.
