Some people have thick hair, and you would badly want to thin out excess hair. In doing this, you would need thinning shears, and not just any kind of scissors. These shears are equipped with teeth-like metal blades which could remove a good amount of hair in just a single stroke.

But just like any other tool, these shears need constant sharpening in order for it to work properly and so that it could retain its sharpness.

The sharpening process involves some tools such as mild oil, a sharpening device, a wand sharpener, and a rag with which you could polish the shears.

Here's the procedure by which you should sharpen your shears. First, place the flat blade into the scissors slot. In order for the slot to tightly clamp onto the blade, it has to be adjusted. The next step to do is to turn the grinding wheel on, and place it to the sharpening setting. The device should then be allowed to run for a while, and turned off until the sharpening process is completed. But that does not end with that - you still need to use a wand sharpener.

This tool would enable you to sharpen each comb blade found in the thinning shears. Just in case you have no knowledge of how a wand sharpener looks like, it resembles a long stick which is narrow enough to fit in between teeth. In using it, it should be made to slide in between each comb tooth by sliding it in and out of the slots. Repeat this step for four to six times each blade in order to get rid of the burrs. This could guarantee that the shears are sharpened very well.

Next, rinse the shears with cold water. Leave it dry and then apply honing oil in thin layers for every blade. Last is to wipe the shears dry and leave it squeaky clean!
