The last thing most people think of with regards to purchasing/building sheds is the shed foundation. This is one crucial step that you definitely don't want to take lightly. A solid shed starts with a solid foundation. If done right, you'll never need to mess with it again. So let's discuss the options: -Wood-based shed foundation -Concrete pier foundation -Concrete slab foundation Shed Foundation: Wood-based Actually many people find the wooden foundations to be the best option. It is certainly the quickest and least expensive, and if you get pressure treated beams, you can avoid a lot of problems with rot, and other issues commonly associated with using wood as a foundation. If you allow space for moisture to dry out, you'll not have any problems with rot. A wood foundation is also exceptionally convenient if you ever decide to relocate your shed. Even though it can be a heck of a lot more simple to move around than other foundations you do still need pretty level ground first. Pier Shed Foundation Concrete piers are nice when your ground isn't level. It's pretty easy to use the piers, and some shims to make your shed, level. Concrete will also not rot like a wood foundation can. It weathers elements much better than other alternatives. It isn't quite as portable as a wood foundation either, although, it's a lot better than at least one other type of foundation. Concrete Shed Foundation If you know you'll never want to move your shed again, and want it on the best foundation possible, a concrete slab is your best bet. That foundation is staying put basically forever, so once it's installed, don't expect to ever move it. You can't really go wrong with a concrete foundation under these circumstances. As long as you get it smoothed out and level you'll be in good shape. Make sure you get more step-by-step information to get an idea of what all is involved. Ideally you want a smooth surface for your shed to lay on. That's the ultimate goal and if your foundation done properly, you'll be well on your way.About the Author:
