Saint Sai Baba is synonymous with Shirdi. Sai Baba, who was born in 1838, first visited Shirdi when he was sixteen. He then stayed in Shirdi until his death in 1918. A Sai Baba temple, spread over an area of 200 sq metres, was constructed in Shirdi in 1922 in Babas memory.

The temple complex in Shirdi includes Khandoba, Gurusthan, Samadhi Mandir, Dwarkamai, Chavadi and Lendi Baug. Shani and Maruti Temples, constructed under the supervision of Sai Baba, are the other places of attractions in Shirdi.

Shirdi shot into fame as pilgrim centre during the 20th century. Shirdi is a popular destination of pilgrims throughout the year. Over 20000 pilgrims visit the temple daily.

The distance from Shirdi to Bangalore is about 975 km by road. Bangalore, earlier known city of gardens, has monuments, architectural landmarks, shrines, natural lakes, gardens and parks. Shirdi does not have an airport. The nearest airports are at Nasik (110 km), Pune (180 km) and Mumbai (290 km). Mumbai-Bangalore section has more flights. Travellers taking flights from Nasik or Pune may have to change flights in Mumbai. (Nasik, Pune or Mumbai can be reached from Shirdi by bus or taxi cab).

The most convenient way to travel from Shirdi to Bangalore is to catch Karnataka Express (No.12628) train from Kopergaon, which is situated at a distance of about 16 km from Shirdi. This train takes about 22 hours to reach the destination. Kopergaon can be reached by bus, taxi, autorickshaw or shared taxi and autorickshaw.

Ahmedabad-Bangalore Express (No.16501), which runs only on Wednesdays, has a stop at Manmad, which is situated at a distance of 55 km from Shirdi. Road transport is available from Shirdi to Manmad.

Bus service and taxi cabs are available for travel from Shirdi to Bangalore. Taxi cabs charge a fare ranging from Rs.17000 to Rs.23000. It takes nearly 15 hours to travel by road from Shirdi to Bangalore.
