Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi (SFKTNP) shouts out that first love makes your world go round even if that happens at the age of 45, it has no expiry date!

But is this quirky love story of a bra-penty salesman and an outspoken spinster is as spicy Salli Boti - Dhansak and as juicy as Dukes Mangola? Kya Boman-Farah ka rocket udega? Let's find out...

SFKTNP takes you into a Parsi colony thats furnished with every possible Parsi stereotype and associated eccentricities. Were afraid the overload of poop and fart jibes and showing ever fighting Parsi Bawas might upset a few within the community. However, meet our Hero bawa- Farhad Pastakia (Boman Irani), slightly loony mamas boy with a clean heart, who lives with a hyperventilating mommy (Daisy Irani) and a progressive granny (Shammiji). Farhads matrimonial bio 45, single and a salesman at an undergarments shop. And quite a talented one at that! He just needs a glace to find out if Farah would need a 38-D or 36 C! No prizes for guessing that his profession makes him a less preferred one in the shadi department. But soon he meets Shirin Fuggawala (Farha Khan). If you cant take too much mushy stuff, our hero-heroine might get onto your nerves as they dont mind doing all the lovey-dovey stuff usually akin to the teenage romance breaking into bedroom jigs and holding hands at coffee dates to dreamy proposals and first kisses.

Coming back to the story Cupid has struck, both are eager to get married, then whats stopping?. Well, a B-wood love story can't kiss a happy ending sans villains or villainous situations? There it is before Shirin and Farhad can hug taking care of their paunches, mommy Irani with her bulbous eyes gets anti. Wondering why? Watch the movie and find out! However, the granny supports her meek deekra. She reminds us of Vicky Donors dadi. And rest of the film thrives on emotional drama, romance and mummy manao shadi karwao mission.

Debutant director Bela Bhansali Sehgal was getting it almost correct with the casting and story till the film hits interval. Though being a film editor helped Bela as she didnt let any scene overflow but post interval the execution fails and the otherwise short 2 hour film looks stretched, thanks to a rickety script and never ending random jokes (Hell breaks loose when Farah's father who has been in coma for past 7 years gets back to life at the end and demands Mangola!).

Performance wise, Boman Irani has made Farah come alive on screen with his genuine acting and entertaining antics. His interaction with Shirin touch your heart Be it his intro to Shirins Bua First Love Shirin, Last love Shirin or the way he expresses his love for her towards the end saying, when hes much older having no control on his mind, eyesight or hearing, hell still love Shirin. Farah on the other hand appears a little woody whenever she deliberately tries to act but is quite impressive being herself. A few more movies and shell sail through. However, what surprised here more was the fact that she cannot dance despite being a choreographer. Daisy Irani and Shammiji are a delight to watch after such a long time.

Dialogues are snappy and well dipped in the mood of the film. Comedy is in abundance, but as said earlier authentic laughter churners are sparse. Talking about music, the film could have been better without songs as none of them add to the story except for the fact that they add to the length and make the film stick to Bollywood norm of having songs.

Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi might not make it to the 100 cr club, it might not star the hottest of actors and it might not be the finest love-story either but it is sweet nevertheless. Watch it for the quirky new pair, you wont regret. And it wraps up under 2 hours!
