There many parts of our bodies that we take for granted, such as our feet which we do not think about until they begin to hurt. When they begin to hurt we pass it off as something temporary and it will soon go away. We do not realize that foot pain can be the cause of pain in the hips, leg muscles, and other joint and muscles. Soon you find yourself favoring one side of another because of the foot pain. Taking favorite sides will change your gait and affect your back and your hips which will also begin to hurt. The next time you have lower back pain think feet.
I met a woman waiting in line at the drug store one day, and she told me she had a lot of heel pain which she discovered was being caused by her fallen arches. Fallen arches are just another name for flat feet. When you have fallen arches the arch of your foot flattens on the ground when you are in a standing position. She said her doctor recommended insoles and they helped by lifting the sole of the foot back into its natural position.
There was another incident where I met a gentleman that was upset because he had to stop jogging and he loved jogging. He said he has a condition the doctor called plantar's fasciitis. The plantar's fasciitis is a band of tissue running along the bottom of the foot that connect the heel to the toes. It was very painful and seemed to worse when he woke in the morning. He further found out that this condition usually affects runners. He had the condition only in one foot but understood that it could also occur in both feet at the same time. He did not have heel spurs although they can occur when you have plantar's fasciitis. However, heel spurs to not cause heel pain as it was thought.
Don't suffer with heel pain thinking it will just go away. See your doctor or other health professional and be fitted for orthotic insoles and feel better. Whatever your age, take care of your feet and be pain free.
