Shogun 2 Total War
It took 10 years to Creative Assembly to decide to return back to their roots by creating Shogun 2 Total War. 10 years ago they took a great risk by creating and publishing Shogun 1. After the success of Shogun 1 they started creating one jewel after another establishing the Total War series. So 10 years later they have decided it is time to return back and recreate the game that started everything. So they gave us Shogun 2 Total War. When they were asked '' why now, why they went back ? '' . Their answer was: '' Now we have the technology, knowledge and experience to recreate what started everything '' .
Shogun 2 is a real time strategy game. With a turn based campaign map where all the tactical decisions take place and real time battles where the prices of the previous decisions must be paid. In the campaign map the gamer plays the role of a commander and strategist and in the battlefield he plays the role of a general and a tactician. There is no story in campaign mode like in other conventional strategy games. There is one and only goal to become Shogun, the military ruler of all Japan. The goal of the game is pretty much straight forward and simple. Battle after battle until the player will be able to conquer and hold a number of specific provinces. Then he will have to face all the other clan leader and their desire to become military rulers themselves.
The game gathered some of the best reviews of all times. All the Total War games were used since the day of their creation as reference points for other strategy games. So Shogun 2 could be no exception. Editor's choice, best real time strategy game ever created, epic, excellence are some of the titles given. Plus that it won most of the awards in game conventions in the strategy category. Hundreds of people worked all together to give us this bar of gold and they deserve all the flattery they can get.
In all this excellence there no possible way not some flaws to be included. Nothing in this world is too perfect. It would be too unrealistic if it would. Unfortunately Shogun 2 has enough glitches and bugs which make the game crash from time to time. This is inevitable and until there will be a patch published from the company fixing all the issues there will be some frustration. Fortunately the game by default saves after every turn but saving manually every now and then will help you not to test your patience limits. Surely you do not want to back track 5,10 or even 15 turns. In every turn dozens of decisions must be made, so unless you want to do everything again and again, then save often.
