Shopping for Fisher Metal Detectors for My Romanian Grandfather

My family came to the United States from Romania over 25 years ago. We have managed to bring over my grandparents to live with us for their retirement. After working their entire lives, plowing the fields manually, they deserve to relax in the splendors that the United States has to offer. Unfortunately, the word "relax" or "relaxa" (in Romanian) is not in my grandfather's vocabulary. For being almost 80 years old, he's very active. He started recycling at first; going around the neighborhood collecting aluminum cans. My parents are living it up in Florida, so I volunteered to have my grandparents (buni) come live with us. We have a large lot in the mountains, which reminds Bunicu of the Carpathians. The Fisher F2 metal detector has an eight segment visual target with four I.D. tones. It says it's fast and sensitive. There is a two digit numeric target value, one-touch point numeric path readout, coin depth indicator in search mode, lightweight (that's a nice feature), ergonomic, 5.9 kHz and has an 8 concentric search coil.

The biggest difference between the F2 and the Fisher F4 metal detector is the search coil. The F4 has an 11 bi-axial search coil, which is more. The F4 seems nicer, more sophisticated, probably easier to use. Both come with a five year manufacturer's warranty, which is nice.

In the end, we got the F4 for Bunicu. He got such a kick out of out when he found it wrapped in his room after returning from a walk with Bunica. He started using it right away. He actually found some turquoise earrings he gave me as a thank you.
