Whether you are here for a holiday or are based on the Costa del Sol on a more permanent basis you will at some stage need to head out shopping. In order to help you this article looks at the different shopping districts of the Costa del Sol and what stores you are likely to find.
Firstly let's look at department stores. Unlike the UK there are not as many of this type of store from which to choose. In fact the main one you will find up and down the country is a department store called El Corte Ingles. On western Costa del Sol you will find two in central Malaga, one in Fuengirola, one in Marbella Centre although this is not an entire store and a large one in Puerto Banus. Within this type of store you will find everything from food through to the latest fashions from computer and hi-fi equipment through to white goods and household items.
In Fuengirola there is another department type store although it is nowhere as big as El Corte Ingles called Dunnes Stores. This is an Irish department store offering reasonable priced goods.
Most shopping on the Costa del Sol tends to be done in the larger commercial centres. In Malaga there are numerous shopping centres but outside of the city the main ones people tend to head for are Plaza Mayor in Malaga, the Miramar Centre in Fuengirola or La Canada in Marbella.
Within these shopping centres you will find all of the main high street names and fashion outlets as well as some independent shops. In addition all of them have food halls so you can spend the day at the shopping centre and not miss lunch.
All of the shopping centres mentioned above also have cinemas wit Plaza Mayor and the Miramar Centre offering films in English too.
