The length or the duration of the rehabilitation programmes is a very important factor

that determines the effectiveness of the treatment and how long the patient will be able to stay off drugs and alcohol. Very often, it is found that the patients have a desire to take drugs even after they have undergone the rehabilitation treatments. They are not able to curb their desire for drugs and alcohol. This does not necessarily mean that the rehabilitation treatment was very faulty. The length of the treatment is, therefore, considered to be a very determining factor that needs proper consideration before selecting any rehabilitation treatment for the addiction that any person has for drugs and alcohol. Short term rehab treatments can never be as effective as the long term treatments to counter the long term problems of drug addiction and, therefore, it is important to avoid them as much as possible. The full time treatments are better off because they have more positive impact on the patients rather than having them quit the addiction only to get back after they are unable to counter the desire of drugs after the treatment has concluded. It does not make any practical sense if the patient is not able to get any long lasting effect of the rehabilitation treatments after spending a whole lot of money in the attempt to get the best professional help that would assist them in their tryst to get over their addiction. That is the reason why 30 day rehab programs should not be given much priority when choosing a rehabilitation treatment.

Long term rehabilitation treatments are a bit costly and might weigh an awesome lot on the pockets of the addict but, they do have their advantages. It is better to spend some extra money and get a complete rehabilitation treatment that would help the patient to completely recover from their addiction rather than select a short term rehab treatment at a lower cost that does not have enough positive impact on the patient and make them quit the addiction once and for all. Full time rehabilitation programs can cost a lot of money (as much as $30,000 every month) but, they are still better that paying a small amount of money that goes for waste entirely. However, all rehabilitation centers do not charge that kind of money. There are several rehabilitation centers that provide great quality long term rehabilitation treatments at much lesser costs.

There are also a large number of non-profit rehabilitation centers that provide these rehab treatments at the cheapest prices that it would not cost heavy on anybodys pockets. These rehab centers usually receive all of their funds from their respective Federal Governments. Many of them are also run by different religious organizations in an attempt to do some social service to enhance the condition of the community. It is far better to select a long term rehabilitation treatment in one of these centers than undergoing 30 day rehab programs in a well known private rehabilitation center.
