. Many smokers claim to have sufficient knowledge to tell others how to smoke and what methods of smoking they should avoid. Many of these self-proclaimed experts state that the only way to properly smoke a cigar is to only smoke half of each one. So, is it true that you should only smoke a cigar halfway? The answer to this question differs with each cigar smoker.

We all have our personal tastes in smoking cigars. Some of us enjoy smoking an entire cigar while others enjoy taking a few puffs at a time. The choice of how to smoke a cigar is entirely up to the smoker. There are many reasons why someone would claim that smoking a cigar in its entirety is improper. One reason would be that the cigar, as it gets closer to the end, takes on an altered taste. As is the case with the consumption of many products, the more we consume at once, the blander the taste gets. This is not specifically due to the makeup of the product but, instead, it is a reaction of our taste buds to their repeated exposure to this one item.

The taste of the cigar will change when you smoke it about halfway and then relight it. It's fine to relight a cigar, but cigars are usually best when you take the time to smoke the entire thing and when you experience it from start to finish as it was intended to be smoked. There are some very odd justifications that people use for smoking a cigar halfway, but when you take a look at what's really going on, none of those justifications really hold up.

Smoking half a cigar may also have some financial benefits to the cigar smoker. By cutting the consumption of a cigar in half the cigar smoker is allowing themselves two significant smoking experiences per cigar. As quality cigars can sell for at least $20, this smoking method is a great way to ensure that maximum cost efficiency is enjoyed.

Even if you only smoke the cigar halfway, you will still experience some change in the flavor. The difference is that at the beginning and toward the middle of the cigar, the change in flavor is more subtle. As stated earlier, it is simply a matter of personal preference.
