How many of us have this deep rooted desire to be right all the time. Why is this so? As Dale Carnegie says in his book, How To Win Friends and Influence People,
"If you can be sure of being right only 55% of the time, you can go down to Wall Street and make a million dollars a day"
Remember it is difficult enough to get people to see your point of view, do not stack the odds against yourself unnecessarily. Telling or even insinuating to another that he/she is wrong is tantamount to an insult on their intelligence. It is not going to bring you any benefit.
They are unlikely to change their mind and will avoid having any associations with you in the future. Nobody willingly puts themselves in a situation where they risk being put down.
For example, have you ever confided in a friend about a situation where you felt hard done by, only for them to tell you how they would have handled the situation much better and not have allowed him/herself be treated badly.
Now you actually get to feel bad twice. Not only did you feel hard done by in the first place but now you are made feel it was all your own fault! Will you ever confide in that person again? I doubt it.
