Show The Family You Really Care With Personalised Cards
I love buying cards for all of those wonderful events that occur in my friends' lives
. When a marriage is announced or the arrival of a baby I enjoy choosing a card to send, usually accompanied by a brief letter expressing my joy.
I know my friends so well, as we have been in each other's company through thick and thin, living the highs and lows of each other's lives for many years and so I also know what kind of card is the best to send. Some friends are sentimental softies and so a pretty card displaying glorious roses is the one for them. Some of them are a little wild and so a risquicture will float their boat. It is not only the type of card selected that is important, but the message within and that can so often mean that a particular card with the right image may not carry the relevant message.
By giving personalised cards, though, I can add the message myself as well as the recipient's own name on the design, safe in the knowledge that it will hit the spot. Buying personalised cards for the family, however, is another matter. It should be an easy enough task, but because I know them all so well, maybe a bit too well, I need to be satisfied with my choice. Recently, I tried a little experimenting and bought my son and his wife personalised cards to celebrate their wedding anniversary. They are not in the least traditional, so a sentimental card was out of the question. I considered giving a humorous card, but the messages inside this type of greetings card seemed a tad vulgar for a mother or mother-in-law to give.
I decided to take a look at what is on offer in the personalised cards section and to my delight I found something that was tasteful without being predictable, artistic without being pretentious and suited them to a tee. The fact that I could personalise the card with an individual greeting made it so much more relevant and it turned out to be a great success. Ever since then, when it comes to finding the right card for a family member, I have had no difficulty in choosing from the vast range on offer. Instead of ripping open the envelope and reading the signature, they cherish personalised cards and everyone appreciates them, because they show that I really care.
On Father's Day I gave my dear old dad a 'Superdad' card and the image and message nearly made him fall out of his armchair with laughter. This was the reaction that I was hoping for and his card was by far the most impressive, compared with the others from my siblings who have not discovered personalised cards yet. My mother loved the 'Birthday Mum' card with its light hearted message and was thrilled at seeing her name on the design, especially as she had never received a personalised card in her whole life. Although my sister and I have been competing with each other throughout our years and do have the odd bust up every so often, it is only natural for close family members to eventually make up again. She knows I love her really and to show my affection I have just bought a 'Super Sister' card for her next birthday.
Personalised cards make a great accompaniment to a personalised gift and that is exactly what I have in mind for her. My daughter has great taste in clothes and knows just where to find them at bargain prices. She is always coming home with some lovely skirt or floral dress that has me green with envy. The 'Beautiful Daughter' card is one of many personalised cards for those girls with an eye for fashion and so this is the one for her. It shows I have spent time finding something just right for her and personalised cards really get the message across. Grandma is the black sheep of the family. All sorts of stories do the rounds when we have a family gathering and it seems that she was quite ahead of her time for her day, in all sorts of ways.
She never denies these stories so I suspect that she had quite an eye for the wild boys when she was young. To remind her of those times, the 'Gardeners Delight' card is so apt. It is not what you would expect from its title, but shows a tasty semi-clad young man getting ready to do a bit of weeding. With her name sprawled across his naked chest, I think this is just the thing to get her pulse racing. It is easy to show you really care with personalised cards.
