Sifnos island, Greece

From the very first moment my friend proposed me to go to SIfnos island for one weekend I was totally excited

. They knew that I had wished to be there many times that period thanks to the tourist guides and the magazines I had read about Sifnos. I am fond of luxurious accommodation and that period every single page I would read had several photos from the small hotels of the island as well as the famous people that arrive there on holidays. I really wanted to be there even for a couple of days! My friends arranged everything for and it was my birthday present!!

So, we found ourselves aboard, on a high speed ferry that let us enjoy the route in the blue fond, the sea gulls and the small fish that jumped out the water and dived immediately. At first sight, we saw the port and a village composed of white washed houses with blue details, rare vegetation and a big gulf. This is the Cycladic character of the island, I thought.

My friends had bokked a suite in a boutique hotel that consisted of seven rooms and one suite! We were told that there are no resort complexes or big hotel units in Sifnos island. Obviously this is the reason people were so approachable, welcoming, polite and friendly. We enjoyed a personal care by the hotel staff and administration that can no way be found in big complexes. Our suite was magnificent in red, pink and orange colors that cheered us up. The second room was blue and it had gold mirrors and lighting dimmers, ideal for a romantic atmosphere. I loved our suite and I had already started having a great time and the best birthday celebration ever!

Our first excursions would be at the beach. According tou our guide, we should go to Platis Yalos which is the most crowded one thank to its beauty. It has golden sand both on the coast and in the bottom of the sea. We swam a lot, did water sports, played beach volley and in the evening, during the sunset we relaxed at the beach bar drinking some cocktails and dancing until midnight!

Wreturned at the hotel early in the morning almost exhausted and fell immediately asleep. The next morning my friend had prepared a really cute party for me in the breakfast room. I was trying to recover from last night dizziness with a cup of coffee and some fresh bread, when the waitress showed up holding a birthday cake with 27 pink candles lighting it! Everybody was sing "Happy birthday" to me and while I was trying to blow over the candles I heard a bottle of champagne opening It was an amazing moment that I felt like the Queen of the island. So many people, some of them unknown to me, had organized such a wonderful party for me. We ate the cake, danced again and then went for dinner in Vathi village. We were served fresh fish, shrimps and fresh salads. The wine was excellent and I have to admit that we drunk a lot again.

The night had come and we were ready for our last nightlife excursion in the island. We went to Apolonia village where we could choose among among various bars and small clubs. We were still dancing when we saw the sunrise This meant that we had to end our trip The ferry would leave in some hours and we should be on it.

We promised each other that we eill come back soon because there were many beaches we had not visited yet and a lot of local dishes to taste. Maybe on my next birthday day
