Advertising

Signs on buildings are an important form of advertising. It could be promoting a product or sale as well as welcoming customers to a grand opening. Different forms of signs are available including banners and even displaying items in building windows. Window signs might be a neon signs or even painted on with special paint. Signs on the outside of buildings get the attention of the public and need to be able to withstand the weather, such as high winds, rain and sun. This is why signs are made of vinyl, which is durable and weather resistant.

Direction

It is important to help the public and customers have direction when they visit a business, store or building. Having light helps these letters or signs on buildings have longer exposure to the public. It even lets a business be identified at night as it is still open during night time hours. Letters can be customized to fit the design and logo of a business or store. Often letters are brass or another metal because this is a weather resistant material, which makes it important because these signs are on the outside of buildings. Other materials could be plastic and foam, which are also weather resistant. Often these identification sign letters on buildings are durable and last for many years, even with exposure to harsh weather and the suns fading rays.

Marquee

Theatres are known to have signs on the building. The most visible is the marquee that has the events listed on it. People drive by the theatre and not only see the movie posters, which can be considered signs, but they drive by to get more information about what movies are being played. They glance at the marquee to see the information they seek. Plastic letters are inserted into slots to form messages, which in this case are movie titles and show times.
