Once upon a time, when you thought of silver jewellery you thought of conventional items like silver bracelets, silver rings, silver brooches and silver earrings. At some point, the silver anklet was introduced; at the time, it seemed like a rather daring bit of silver jewellery.

But with the increase in body art including piercing the role of silver jewellery as an adornment has expanded. Although sometimes a stud is used (usually with a gemstone), usually the belly button silver jewellery of choice is a bar with a silver or gemstone stud on one end and a dangling charm on the other.
