. It doesn't matter whether it is to the office, a night on the town or spending a day out. They want to look their best and at times, wear the best. Jewelry is becoming a big part of that and more men are wearing men rings today.Wedding rings do not fall into the category of rings for men. They are worn out of love, not fashion normally, but that doesn't stop the debate on whether a man should have to wear one or not. Rings for men are all about fashion and looking good. Billy the Kid is an example of how men, even decades ago, weren't afraid to wear a ring.
Asking men about rings and if they wear them, you'll find a multitude of answers. Everything ranging from "only women wear jewelry" to "men should only wear watches" and the ever popular "real men don't wear rings". Which makes one wonder just who all these fake men are that we see daily on their way to the office, in magazines, and playing football with a fashionable ring, somewhere on their hand?
The majority of men that wear rings are your average everyday Joe, just wanting to look good. They choose something subtle, a clean and simple design. Not every man is a rapper or hip hopper, so the flashy rings and large chunks of gold are reserved for a special type of man.
Pinky rings are quite common, even with men. This is a fashion statement and carries no real significance behind it, unless the wearer chooses one. It can be associated to the gangsters and mafia thanks to The Godfather. And, for gamblers and card players, thanks to Billy the Kid. But ordinarily, it is just a piece of jewelry that looks good.
Although thumb rings are becoming very popular, they are nothing new. Their history goes back to the Egyptians when they wore them on both thumbs. This type of ring can carry a meaning; normally some say it represents "self". But, others wear it as a sign of independence, love, sexuality, and because it just looks good.
Men rings are nothing new, as history shows, but the attitudes today are. Men feel confident and comfortable dressing nicely, looking good, and wearing simple pieces of jewelry. There will always be those that say real men shouldn't do this or that, but that won't stop rings from being created and worn by other men out there living and enjoying their lives, and looking good while they are at it.
