. These tips can help you learn how to be a success in the kitchen. Don't be intimidated by ingredients, recipes, or your kitchen. Once you become more comfortable and confident in the kitchen, you may find that you love to cook. You should have fun with these tips and should not worry about making an exquisite mess in your kitchen every so often.
To make your cooking less stressful, get all of your ingredients ready before you start. If you do so, you can jump in at once; you won't get stuck in the middle of a recipe without a necessary ingredient. It does take a little bit more time to get everything out prior to cooking, however, it will save you time and frustration in the long run.
There is a secret to thicken up your weak sauce. In a small bowl, combine two tablespoons of water and 3 teaspoons of corn starch. Stir this mixture into the sauce while it's simmering and this will make it more thick. Be sure to gradually stir in the solution, and frequently stir the sauce so that it does not become too thick.
If you are left with extra sauce after a meal, find a clean ice cube tray to pour the leftovers into and store the tray in the freezer. You can easily take them from the freezer when needed for a meal, and quickly reheat in a saute pan. Do not worry, the sauce will still be edible after it has been in the ice cube trays!
Do you know that guilty feeling you get when you throw away fruit that has mold? Can you actually save your fruit by cutting the part out that is rotten? It is unfortunate, but it is not safe to save fruit that is partly rotted. Throw the fruit away as mold can grow beyond just what the eye can see, which could end up making you sick.
Always remove the extra fat from your stews and soups. If your soup has too much fat cool it down and the fat will rise to the top. Then just collect the fat by rubbing an ice cube, resting on a spoon, along the surface. Fat that collects on an ice cube or a chilled spoon that runs across the surface of your soup or stew broth will not remove as much excess fat as allowing the dish to completely cool. Rather blot the fat with a paper towel.
To get better results when juicing a citrus fruit, stick it in the microwave first. A quick zap in the microwave for about ten seconds is all you need with oranges, lemons, limes, and other citrus fruits. Once you take it out, roll it on your counter and then cut it to begin the juicing process.
If you are using raw onions to make your salsa and you plan to store it for later use, be sure to rinse the onions in cold water and dry them before adding them to the salsa. Fresh onions emit a sulfurous gas. This unappetizing gas by-product can ruin the taste of your salsa. If you rinse the raw onions and dry them well, it will remove this gas.
Make sure to implement the given tips if you would like to see improvement in your cooking. Following these tips should be relatively easy if you take your time and try one new thing at a time.
