Simple Exercises You Can Do For Perfect Eyesight At Any Age

Eye problems are commonly caused by eyestrain. How: When the eye strains to see something, the muscles surrounding it become tense and rigid. This puts pressure on the eyeball and distort it's shape. The upside is that we can train our eyes to relax these muscles entirely and make related eyesight problems disappear. Following is a series of regular exercises designed to help the eye muscle relax, perform them without contact lenses and glasses.

Eye lines: Keeping your head relaxed and still, allow your eyes to move up and down six times. Don't put any effort or strain on your eyes. Repeat this three times, with a few seconds of rest in between. After you're done repeat but this time moving your eyes from left to right and back again. This helps relax the stiff, stained muscles around your eyes.

Palming: Find a comfortable chair and gently rest the palms of both hands over your closed eyes. Stay like this for 10 minutes. Remove your hands and open your eyes. Now try to choose objects of one particular colour, choosing a different colour for every day of the week.

Butterfly blinking: Blink fast for a few seconds, then gently squeeze your eyelids shut for a moment. Repeat this exercise for up to a minute. This shifts the point of focus of your eye, and also helps to lubricate the outer surface by stimulating the tear ducts.

Tracing shapes: Imagine there is a pencil extending from the tip of your nose. Use this to trace the outline of various objects about you, some near and others further away. This exercise helps to strengthen the ability of the eye to focus on objects at different distances. Vary the exercise by tracing figure of eight in the air.

Swinging: This should be prectised standing up, but can also be done by sitting down. Relax your neck, and gently swing your head from side to side, backwards and forwards. Swinging is designed to relax the neck and shoulder muscles and improve the blood supply to the eyes. Take note that it's important that all of these exercises are performed in a relaxed and rhythmical way, without any strain or jerkiness. A helpfull hint is to put on relaxing music while you are doing them. To get the most benefit from these excersices you'll want to do them at least once a day.
