Everybody has pheromones, although men seem to excrete more than women. This is because most of male pheromones are brought to the surface of the skin when they

sweat. There are receptors in the noses of women that can pick up even the slightest amount of pheromones.

Many women love to use perfume. Sometimes it is used to attract a mate but not always wore for that reason. Many perfume and cologne makers put pheromones in the

mixture so that it will have some of the same reactions from the opposite sex.

Animals and insects also use their pheromones, many times for different reasons. Bees, ants and some beetles use them to warn of dangers, perhaps a predator, and many

of them can smell when a female in ready to breed. With the chemicals that they release through their skin, they can communicate with members of their own kind. Survival

would be much harder without the use of these chemicals.

In the animal kingdom, pheromones play a large role in the reproductive rituals. Many times, the male can tell a female is in heat, even if she is far away. The female in turn

will pick out her mate by the reaction of the male.
