Simple Ideas To Help You Market Your Novel

Many people have huge dreams of becoming successful novelists

. Then they struggle through and write their books, get it published, and then see it listed on Amazon. The elation finally settles down when they see their Amazon sales rank down in the millions. This means there are a million other books on Amazon that are selling more than theirs. And when you consider that the top twenty percent of books make up about eighty percent of book sales, this doesn't translate into much money. Of course, unless you've got a fat book deal that includes a book signing tour and going on plenty of talk shows, you are going to have to do a little bit of work when it comes to marketing your book. In this article, you are going to learn just how to do that.

When it comes to marketing a novel, there's the cheap way, and there's the expensive way. Many people who were sold on marketing packages found out the hard way that using expensive methods to market your book rarely pays for itself. In order to really make a dent in sales, without making a dent in your wallet, you've got to use some free, guerrilla marketing techniques.

Luckily, there's never been a better time to do this. With so many social networking platforms in operation today, it's easier than ever to create your own following, and generate all kinds of buzz for your novel. While this won't cost you much, it will take up some of your time, so you'll need to budget at least thirty minutes a day to work on this.

First of all, you're going to need a website, or at the very least, a blog. You can get a blog for free on many of the free blogging platforms like Wordpress or Blogger. Make sure you update it at least three or four times a week, and interact with your readers as much as possible.

Another way to create a following is with Facebook. This is a great way to create a brand for yourself. You can set up a Facebook page fairly easily. Once you've got it set up, collect as many friends as you can. Find people with similar interest, and see if they want to be friends. Each friend that you have will have many other friends, so anything you post on Facebook has the potential to reach millions of people.

Also, setting up your own You Tube channel is a good idea. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just a video log where you talk about anything that interests you.

When you tie these three methods together, a blog, Facebook, and You Tube, you will slowly develop a huge following that you can market your book to. And before you know it, you'll be famous.
