Simple Slogans Help Spread Safety Message
It's not easy to get people to listen when they are naturally inclined to be in denial of the topic. This is the case with safety meetings in the workplace. It's true that if we feared for our safety we wouldn't be able to accomplish much with our lives. There wouldn't be much innovation, and very few skyscraper windows would get cleaned. So we go to work much the same way we go about other things in our lives, assuming that we are generally safe. But the fact remains that we come close to accidents both offsite and on the job, and that is why safety meetings are required, to refocus us on the potential hazards of a work environment. This is not to scare employees, but rather to reduce the chance that they will be careless. Most staff members' minds will wander during these obligatory meetings, some may take heed of the lessons, but at the foundation, it is critical that they all come away with something. Safety slogans, sprinkled throughout the presentation, and printed on promotional products, can reinforce the safety message after the event.
"Think Safety" This simple slogan is catchy enough for staff members to digest and retain. Its message is clear, when you are performing a duty, think safety, and execute it according to protocol. This slogan is small enough to fit on a stress ball, travel mug or other promotional incentive.
"Safety First" Another short message, one that would make for a nice lapel pin or button. This type of giveaway can be worn to show an employees commitment to doing things the safe way. It can also be a source of pride for companies that reward consecutive days without an accident.
"Safety Is A Full Time Job" and "Never Take A Break From Safety" These two slogans can be incorporated to a lesson of on and off site safety. Employees may take off their hard hats and reflective apparel when they leave the workplace, but that doesn't mean that hazards disappear. Staff members can take the safety message home, and reduce the chance of accidents in their personal lives.
