Simple Top Home Kitchen Cleaning Tips

The kitchen can be a difficult area to master. It can be very easy to allow the kitchen to be messy, benches full of both yesterdays and today's used utensils, plates and food etc. Soon it is smelly and grimy.

The secret is to keep on top using these kitchen cleaning tips.

First though you will need to get on top of the kitchen area. Clear the surfaces by putting away food items, washing up or putting into the dishwasher the used plates and cooking utensils. Remove unwanted items like bags or paper. Now it will immediately look tidy and more manageable.

Now wipe down all the surfaces with a clean moist cloth. You can make a solution of water and liquid dishwashing detergent and place into a spray bottle. This will deal with most areas. Try to wipe down all surface areas each day.

Give your chopping boards a good scrub in hot soapy water. Leave out to air dry. If they are still smelly from cutting up fish garlic etc. wipe over a lemon then wash normally. Leave to air dry again.

Another area that can get smelly is the garbage disposal unit. To freshen and clean, place lemon in the unit and turn on with water flowing in as well.

Wipe down any small appliances for example the toaster, and put away.

Empty the rubbish bins and spray and wipe out inside. Try to do this every-day as part of your daily routine.

Sweep or mop the floors last.

If you cook daily then wipe out your oven and over your cooking tops. Check with the manufacturer's instruction manual if possible. Most ovens and cooking tops can be cleaned by using simply using your home-made spray solution.

Once a week lift everything out of your refrigerator and wipe down the door and shelves. Before replacing food items, it is a good time to check on those expiry dates and discard any that have an expired use by date. To absorb smells in the refrigerator place an open a packet of baking powder in the back of one of the shelves.

At least once a week wipe down all cupboard doors. It is amazing how food spills and dirty finger marks seem to collect on them.

Once a month tackle the cupboards, do one month. Lift everything out, wipe down the surfaces using your spray solution, and then replace the items.

The best plan for your kitchen is to clean up after preparing any food; you may have to train other family members to follow this rule as well. Clean up any spills start away. If you do this they will be easier to deal with and less chance of staining any surfaces.
