An obvious component of shedding excess body weight and fat is proper nutrition and diet

. Unfortunately, this is often the most misunderstood and confusing part of weight loss! It's not good enough to eat less food, or eat "diet" food. In fact, these common conventional approaches can be ineffective and even dangerous.

As you move toward making healthier nutritional choices to maximize your body transformation efforts, remember to focus on the "simple" foundational components of nutrition.

It's so easy to get caught up in overwhelming details of diets and nutrition. Some of these details are accurate, but most are not!

The big picture that will lead you to weight loss and body transformation success revolves one very simple strategy:


"Add the good stuff FIRST!" In other words, fill up with Health!

Each day, make it a clear intention to provide your body with ample fuel for your success. You've got to eat enough food to provide the energy (the "fuel") for your body to perform at its best and burn fat for you effectively. More important, you've got to provide the right fuel. Filling up isn't enough. Fueling up is more accurate.

Make your healthy choices at every opportunity. Choose foods from the Circle of Health as often as possible: 1) clean protein from natural sources 2) healthy fats and oils 3) vegetables 4) fruit 5) pure water. Choose the highest quality of these foods whenever possible and for as many meals and snacks as possible. Then, do this for as many days of the week as possible.

If a less-than-healthy opportunity presents itself, make sure you've already added the "good stuff". This way, whether or not you end up choosing the less-than-healthy food, you at least know that you've provided your body with some ingredients for health ahead of time.

Be careful... there are always consequences to every choice we make! I'm not encouraging you to eat a bunch of healthy stuff only so that you feel like you've "earned" that junk food or those 'tasty toxins'! That's a dangerous and ineffective approach. There are limitations of matter. A healthy outcome requires healthy input.

If you're going to a party or special event where there will be toxic choices, add the good stuff first before you ever get there. Or, start by grazing at the veggie table... or order a salad first. Teach your kids to do the same. It's a powerful life skill.


Choosing health first will quickly become second nature for you! It's a simple shift in mindset with a big pay-off! Also, it makes the entire process of shedding weight and fat far more enjoyable and easy.

Add healthy foods and drinks at every opportunity. Fresh fiber (e.g. vegetables) with every meal and snack. Pure water throughout the day. Clean protein and healthy, natural fats at regular intervals each day. Don't beat yourself up for toxic choices you may have made - that's self-defeating. Focus on the positive and keep adding more positive.
