Single-user And Group-user Project Management Systems
Project management is the science of organizing
, planning and managing the resources of an organization in order to accomplish specific objectives. It includes developing an activity plan, quantifying the resources needed and those available, then proceeding to the implementation of said plan and controlling its development.
Therefore, one of the most useful tools available to a project manager is the project management system. It can include activity calendars, budgeting programs, as well as administration software and offers the possibility of effective collaboration and communication between all the members of the team, giving them easy access to all the data they need.
Generally speaking, there are two types of project management systems: those developed for single users and those for multiple users. The former are usually desktop applications and are meant to be used by only one employee at a time. They are best for elementary projects and for those that are not urgent.
Very similar to these systems are those used for personal projects, as none of them can be edited by more people at the same time. Still, they shouldn't be mistaken for one another, because the latter are mostly used for personal and household projects and they are much simpler.
The other types of project management applications are those designed to have multiple users. They can be found in the form of extranets, web-based tools sold by specialized companies. These systems may be appropriate for your project if it needs to be done in a small amount of time or if its dimensions require a large number of data operators. This way, you can divide the work amount between your employees and they can all work at the same time, as opposed to one person doing everything himself.
When deciding on the system you want to implement in your organization, keep in mind that the most important thing is for you to be able to meet the project's goals. Any type of application can be the right one at long as it's productive and rewarding.
