Singles Over 35 Moving On After a Bad Divorce

Living in the suburbs was something that I always thought I would do with a husband. It has always been my dream to have the house and white picket fence with a dog in the yard and two kids. I know it sounds so cliche but it is the truth. I never expected to be part of the singles over 35 crowd, still living in an apartment with nothing but some tragic memories of failed dating relationships.

I have been married before, and I wish that I could say that it was a good experience. My marriage really did not fail so much as it crashed and burned from abuse. We were only married for three months. I wish that I had gotten to know him better before I agreed to marry him. My parents tried to warn me against getting married so quickly and at such a young age. I wish now that I had listened to them. He turned into an abusive monster very quickly. The first time he hit me was the last time. I moved back home and tried to get an annulment but the courts said that I had to get a divorce.

So, there I was, one of the many lonely singles over 35; unmarried and feeling so betrayed that I never thought I would meet anyone again. I decided to try online dating after a string of bad relationships. I obviously am not able to pick out a good match for myself. It was time to see what all the hype was about. I filled out a questionnaire that only took a few minutes and posted my photo.

I honestly did not think that I would actually connect with anyone, especially so soon after I had completed my profile. Believe it or not, I was on a date that weekend. James and I hit things off a little awkwardly at first. I was shy and feeling a little nervous. I was still not sure about him. It is funny to say that now, because I could not imagine my life without him.

Despite how nervous I was, he was still kind and thoughtful, and that side of his personality really showed itself. We have been dating for over a year. I love him more than I ever thought possible.

For all dating singles over 35 thinking of trying online dating, I highly recommend that you give it a try. It is a lot easier than you think, and you don't have anything to lose.
