Sinusitis Remedies: The Alternative Kind
People have been taught to trust things which are proven and tested through time by different people before they get their hands on it
. People also have a hard time trying things with the word "alternative" in it. What people don't know is that sometimes the alternatives are the ones that are time-tested and people-tested. This statement is especially true when talking about different sinusitis remedies. Remedies which doctors like to call alternatives to conventional medicine.
Here is a list of sinusitis remedies you should try.
Goldenseal (classified as a drying herb) has natural elements which make it a great additional remedy. It contains antimicrobial mechanisms which are of great help in the fight against bacteria. The Goldenseal plant requires a large amount of h2O and is usually taken in tea or capsule form. This helps dry out the sinus congestion. Goldenseal is ideal for sinusitis cases where mucus predominates. Capsules are taken 50mg thrice a day; while in tincture form only droppers full three times a day diluted in warm water is needed.
Yerba Mansa is also another herbal sinusitis remedy. Yerba Mansa has the same inherent medicinal qualities with Goldenseal even though they belong to different herbal plant classifications. It reduces the inflammation of the tissues. When the irritation of the mucus membranes in the sinus passages is lessened, it rapidly cures the patient and its symptoms. The Yerba Mansa herb is best used as a tincture. You can use this herb in a nasal spray as well to find quick relief.
Eucalyptus is inhaled in the form of steam. Inhalation of this nonconventional remedy gives the patient relief from sinusitis symptoms.
Sage is another kind of herb you can simply use at home. All you have to do is mix a handful of sage into a pot of hot water, cover then boil. When it is done, the patient inhales the steam. Drape a towel over your head before inhaling. Doing this process, the sage is like a natural sinusitis decongestant.
Salt water naturally has an ionic composition. This makes salt water the most excellent process for irrigation of the sinus. Do not, I repeat, do not use tap water as a substitute. Tap water does not give any form of relief to sinusitis for the reason that the sinus mucus layer has a specific electrolyte composition (potassium, sodium, chloride). When this composition is mixed with normal water, it will worsen the situation. The sinus cells will assume that additional mucus should be produced, thus making the infection of the sinus worse. Always use salt water for this healing technique.
These alternative remedies may seem peculiar to a lot of people but if these techniques and methods are followed in the approved manner, I can assure you that you will be relieved from your sinusitis. Be a little daring once in a while, but never forget to consult your doctor before trying any of these alternative remedies.
