The media has always associated skateboarding with gang related violence and breaking the rules. This is for a fact untrue as it is a serious sport that needs concentration and balance. So when you think about it, it would be very difficult for a person under the influence to step on a deck without going off balance and falling on his back from the moment he steps on it as skateboarding involves performing tricks at least 2 feet above the air. The poor skaters are even driven away when they are caught playing in parks and alley ways. If you look at the big picture, the sport lets children stay away from trouble as they are engrossed with practicing all afternoon; of course you have to set limits for the hours they have to be in school too.
