Skin Burns, Scars Treatment And Advice

Every scar has its tale

Every scar has its tale. Sometimes they are stories of courage, sometimes they are funny mishaps, but in the world of beauty, they are simply ugly. Some of the most unsightly types of scars are those that come from burns. Their appearance is determined by location, degree, and size. Yet, all burn scars I can assure are not the most pleasing to the eye. For that reason we will look more into what a burn is, how it damages the skin, and what ways we can reduce the appearance of the scars that it leaves behind.

Skin Burns

The skin plays an important role in the regulation of the fluid and temperature of the body. If a large enough area of the skin is injured, the ability to maintain that control can be lost. The skin also serves as the protective barrier that guards us from the bacteria and viruses that exist in the world around us. The anatomy of the skin is as follows: the epidermis or surface layer; the dermis which consists of collagen, elastin, nerves, blood vessels, sweat glands, and hair follicles; and the subcutaneous tissue which holds larger nerves, and blood vessels and serves as the most important layer in temperature regulation. The damage left by a burn depends on where it is, its depth and the area that it covers.

Burn Classification

Burns have classifications that are given depending on their depth. A first degree burn is superficial meaning that is affects only the epidermis causing local inflammation of the skin. A good example of first degree burns are sunburns. Pain, redness, mild swelling and skin tenderness are symptoms of a first degree burn. Second degree burns are the second deepest, reaching into the dermal level. Second degree burns also cause pain, redness and inflammation, as well as blistering. Third degree burns are the deepest degree and affect and effectively kill off all three levels of skin. Third degree burns damage blood vessels and nerves causing the area to appear white and leathery and tend to be relatively painless. It is also important to be aware that burns can mature. The initial injury can continue for a period of time following, where it can involve deeper layers of skin, making it a higher degree burn. A good example is a sunburn that doesn't blister until the next day. Inflammation, fluid accumulation and infection is always a risk, regardless of the degree of the burn. As only the epidermis has the ability to regenerate itself, most burns higher than first degree can leave a person with deeper damage, injury and of course scarring.

First Aid for Burns

It is important to know about skin burn treatment in order to avoid infection and the worst scarring results. For major burns of the second or third degree you need to move the victim into a safe place and proceed to wrap the injured areas in a clean sheet. Do not use cold water on burned skin as this may cause a dramatic drop in body temperature. Except for normal sunburns, burns that occur on the feet or hands should always be considered a significant injury. For minor burns of the first or second degree you need to gently clean the wound with lukewarm water. The injured area can then be treated with topical antibiotic ointment and dressed to maintain cleanliness.

Burn Scar Removal

No matter what story behind it, you will no doubt want to rid yourself of the unsightly burn scar left after a second or third degree burn heals. The most well known scar removal options are surgical, however these prove to be very costly and painful. It seems that with all this scientific information about anatomy and skin classification that there should be a more natural treatment that deals with the organic roots of scar development. The development of Helix Aspersa Muller products has done just that. This comprehensive complex carries messenger cells and enzymes that identify and eliminate non functional cells that make up scar tissue while also restoring healthy skin matrix cells. It also stimulates the production of collagen and elastin which helps create smoother and stronger skin. Natural products that boast Helix Aspersa Muller can promise to do all these things, smoothing and healing burn scars and maintaining your skin moisturized and healthy.
