One of the most basic aspects of skin care is washing your face at least twice a day. Regular soap typically does not cut it because it can actually dry out your face more. Maybe you noticed this before and stopped washing the area because of it, but that is not the answer, either. Instead, purchase some cleanser just for this purpose. There are plenty of skin care lines available at the local grocery store, and many are made with young people in mind.

If you wear makeup, you need to remember to remove it every night. This includes anything, though foundation is often the most damaging product when left on overnight. If you currently have the habit of leaving it on, you might have already noticed a sudden outbreak of pimples, or perhaps just uneven areas that do not look healthy. Using makeup remover or even just baby oil can do the job.

Decide whether you think your facial area is dry or oily. If it is the latter, it might feel greasy often throughout the day. You may decide to use blotting paper made to soak up excess oil. You can find these at any store, and you can carry them with you in a purse, pocket, or backpack. You may also choose to use toner at least once a day, as it can soak up oil as well.


If your face often feels dry, you should get into the habit of using moisturizer at least once a day. This is usually best after you wash your face, and before you either go out for the day or get into bed. It can lock in moisture and keep the area from flaking or peeling. If you find that some parts of your facial area are dry and some oily, you can use a combination of these tips where needed.

The key to looking young for much of your life is often starting a great skin care routine in your teen years. Of course, the added benefit is that you can help get rid of zits right now. If these tips do not help your situation, you should see a dermatologist who can prescribe stronger remedies.
