Great hotels will put a lot of effort into their swimming pools - they find an amazing place for them, put them in lush surroundings, and make big features of them.

When you go on break though, you have to share them with every other guest in the hotel - which can go some way to spoiling the experience.

But here I look at some amazing swimming pools you won't ever have to share with strangers.

There are a vast variety of great pools you can use exclusively for yourself - but when exactly are they? Well they are available when you book a holiday villa. For example, if you're thinking about a holiday in the south of Florida, why spend it in a hotel with a shared pool life guard, and kids.. - a simpler and greater alternative is a villa with a private pool - you can sunbath, swim, all in privacy and the company of only your friends or family. No embarassment, no restrictions.

And you're not limiting your holiday at all - there are some incredible pools available when you rent a holiday villa. - Here are several of our favourites.

Villa Nicobar, Antigua has it's very own personal infinity pool, with gorgeous, views of the Caribbean sea.

Royal Spa Villa in Crete also has a lush infinity pool which blends into the blue horizon of the Mirabello Gulf, as well as having two Jacuzzis!

White Lodge in Kalkan, Turkey has a a lush tropical garden and a 12m infinity pool overlooking the exclusive Komurluk bay.
