Skoda To Break Sales Record

2010 has been a troublesome year for car manufacturers - some have been more than affected

, while others have been able to flourish. Small, economical good value for money car manufacturers such as Kia, Skoda and Hyundai have done better than the more established mainstream car makers.

Skoda has had a great year; it has already beaten its last years total sales record of 684,200 units. In the 11 months of 2010 Skoda has sold 702,400 vehicles with another month of trading remaining. In November 2010 alone, Skoda had a worldwide sales increase of 15.8% and sold 64,200 vehicles compared to 55,000 units in November 2009.

Jurgen Stackmann, board member for Sales and Marketing of Skoda Auto said, "Skoda is clearly accelerating and has every chance to grow at a double-digit rate this year. With the strong growth in November, we're on track to achieve our sales forecast of 750,000 sold vehicles this year. That is a more than solid basis for our ambitious growth objectives for the coming years."

As well as impressive sales of new Skoda in Kings Lynn, in the Czech Republic the home market for Skoda, its market share rose to 34.3% last month. In the first eleven months of 2010 Skoda sold 53,400 units in the Czech Republic, compared to 50,800 in 2009. That equated to an annual growth percentage of 5.1%, the high selling models were the Skoda Octavia Combi and Skoda Superb Combi.

The automotive markets in India, China, and Russia continue to grow at a fast pace. In all three countries, Skoda recorded a high double-digit sales percentage increase. Skoda also recorded high growth rates in other emerging markets: In Egypt growth was 154.4%, in Turkey 90.0%, in Israel 58.4%, and in Australia 32.1%.
