Skoda Yeti launched with 1,000 vehicles order

Finally, Skoda Auto has launched its most awaited SUV (Sprots Utility Vehicle) Skoda Yeti with the with the order of 1000 vehicles. Thomas Kuehl, board member & director, Sales and marketing of Skoda India stated that yeti is most affordable and value for money SUV in India. The Skoda OEM has confirmed 1000 bookings of this SUV which is 10 percent of the local content. Kuehl conveyed that the company is targeting to sell 400-500 Skoda Yetis monthly thereby contributing 20% stake in the Indian SUV market.Indian SUV market contributes 10% of the total automobile market. Currently Skoda has three vehicles in the market available.Skoda Fabia (Hatchback), Skoda New Laura (Sedan) and Skoda New Superb (Premium Sedan). Skoda is planning to launch another small car by 2012. Thomas Kuehl said that the company is also planning to launch the value for money sedan in the second half of next year based on Volkswagen Vento's platform. He said that it would be priced around INR 3,00,000 to 5,00,000 approximately. Skoda is rising significantly in the Indian market with 37% rise.Kuehl said that skoda has sold around 16,500 till October this year and they are expecting 20,000 units sale by the end of this year. Kuehl bothered about the Indian market and calls it as strategic market and said would like the Indian market to add decent total for Volkswagen group worldwide. He said that currently Volkswagen's total share of sales in Inidan market is only 3% and they are planning to increase it by 10% in next five years. Skoda entered in the Indian Market in 2001 and till date they have sold around 96,267 units. Its plant is established in Aurangabad (Maharashtra) and has manufacturing capacity of 44,000 units annually whereas the groups Chaken Site has a manufacturing capacity of 110,000 vehicles. Recently Skoda came with its new Skoda Fabia 1.2 litre engine capacity replacing its past 1.4 litre engine and has been one of the dominating hatchback in the month of October this year. Skoda yeti is also stylish SUV with advanced features. This car is expected give a tough competetion in the domestic market with other brands like Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Scorpio, Mitshubishi Outlander, Maruti Grand Vitara and newly launched Hyundai Santa fe.
