The new year couldn't get off to a more spectacular start as 007 Daniel Craig picks up where he left off in Casino Royale for the blistering follow-up, Quantum Of Solace. But he'll need to be on his toes, what with Beverly Hills Chihuahua nipping at his heels from New Year's Day and plenty of female distractions to be found in My Best Friend's Girl and Bride Wars. Another engrossing war story finds Kate Winslet at her Oscar-winning best in The Reader, and there's more top quality drama with nun Meryl Streep laying Catholic guilt on Philip Seymour Hoffman's priest in Doubt, and Samuel L Jackson stirring up trouble with the neighbours in Lakeview Terrace. Fans of the supernatural will enjoy Keifer Sutherland playing Jack Bauer on sabbatical in Mirrors and the horrifying shocks and pregnant pauses of The Unborn.
