Reflexes slow and people can start to hallucinate. It really can be like driving drunk if you drive deprived. The physiological symptoms include paranoia and delusions as well.

Being in such a condition can cause a person to even have trouble in their personal and social life. If you have not slept you will have less energy, you will be more prone to sickness as well as taking longer to heal and have weight issues. When you have not slept, a person searches for ways to stay awake such as eating sugar, caffeine, tobacco, carbohydrates and even taking drugs - anything to give them energy. These are unhealthy practices. Serious sleep deprivation can also lead to such health issues as diabetes. All the symptoms of sleep deprivation can lead into serious issues if it continues. The body really needs time to repair and heal itself and sleep is meant to do this.

It is important to find a way to get more sleep, such as relaxation techniques. Many find exercise also helps promote sleeping.
