Sleep Problems among Adults and Teenagers
Sleep Problems among Adults and Teenagers
The life of adults and teenagers are similar in some ways. One of these similarities is in regards with work. Working in an office to get a promotion is somewhat as tough as working in school to get high grades. In both lives, you need to be in a group to feel welcomed.
Both adults and teenagers are susceptible to stress which is the primary factors that can lead to sleep problems. Sleep is very important to both adults and teenagers. Without proper sleep, a human cannot function to his full capacity.
So, what are the common sleep problems that both adults and teenagers may develop? What are their probable effects to a person? And finally, what can be done in order to prevent or overcome these sleep disorders?
Sleep problems are commonly categorized in different groups and one of these groups is known as Dysomnia. This category of sleep disorder has two sub-categories which are, extrinsic and intrinsic. Extrinsic is a sub-category of dysomnia which includes sleep problems caused by environmental and pathological factors, while intrinsic includes sleep disorders caused by problems within the body itself.
Dysomnia includes disorders such as hypersomnia, restless leg syndrome, obstructive sleep apnea, delayed sleep phase syndrome, insomnia, etc.
Another category of sleep problems is known as Parasomnias. This includes disorders that involve unnatural and abnormal movements, perception, behaviors, dreams and emotion during sleep. Known types of parasomnias include sleep talking, teeth grinding and bed-wetting.
Some sleep disorders in adults and teenagers are not life-threatening. However, there are some that may pose danger to one's health. Because of this, it is very important that you get rid of any sleep disorder that you know you have.
There are many available treatments for different disorders. Two of which include therapy and medications or drugs. But sometimes, if not most of the time, adults and teenagers neglect these two treatments because they don't have enough money and they are afraid of the side effects of drugs.
For this, most people turn to other natural and inexpensive methods such as drinking green tea and meditation, which are both known to be effective.
